The surface is alive with large, hand-printed blooms in a brick-red derived from madder root, while kantha-inspired running stitches add a delicate, rippled texture—equally at home with a tank and sandals or a crisp shirt and boots.

Craft Note

This red-and-black Bagru print is the classic syahi-begar: syāhi is the inky black brewed from rusted iron, and begar the bold red drawn from majishtha (madder) root. 

Kantha, from eastern India, layers rows of fine running stitches to add both texture and strength. This skirt unites western Rajasthan’s block-printing with Bengal’s stitchwork in a single, modern piece.
