Our Story
Rekh was born from a deep love for textiles and a lasting admiration for the timeless art of handblock printing. Growing up in India, surrounded by rich colors, textures, and a vibrant culture of arts and crafts, this connection was instinctive — shaped by everyday beauty and quiet traditions. What began as a fascination with intricate patterns, subtle imperfections, and the soulful stories behind each handcrafted piece, has grown into a journey of preserving tradition, celebrating craftsmanship, and creating with intention.

Honouring Craft, Empowering Hands
At the heart of our work is a deep respect for the age-old tradition of handblock printing. We’re committed to preserving this craft not just as an art form, but as a way of life for the artisans who carry it forward. By working directly with skilled block makers and printers, we aim to support their livelihoods, celebrate their expertise, and keep this beautiful heritage thriving—one hand-carved block at a time.

The Art of Rekh
“Rekh” (रेख) means line or stroke in Hindi, and in hand-block printing, it refers to the fine outlines carved into wooden blocks. These lines define the shapes and details of a design, guiding the rest of the pattern. In Rajasthan, rekh carving is an essential step in the block-making process — a skill passed down through generations of artisans.
